3 years agoThe Flying Tourbillon Orchestra - “In A Dream”
My friend Andrea saw The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra in concert a few days ago and wrote me highly recommending them. There’s not much information about the group floating around the web, but I can tell you they’re from LA, Andrea says they’re amazing performers and their five song release Escapements came out last month. Also the ever-accurate Wikipedia says that a flying tourbillon is a cantilevered tourbillon and a tourbillon is a part of a clock that lets it defy gravity or something along those lines.
I’m a huge fan of songs where there is a disconnect between how the song sounds and what the song says and this song exemplifies that. It has male female duo vocals that sing so sweetly and calmly you’d expect it to be a love song. Psych! It’s about strangulation! Bonus points for the soprano sounding like one of the ghosts in The Haunted Mansion at Disney World.
